From: "John O'Connor" All Tore Up the tragically hip - from IVL my attempt to make the main riff practical for acoustic playing: riff 1: d u d u d u p p e-------------------0-0--------------- b--------4--x-x----0-----4--2--0----- g---4----4--x-x----1------------------ repeat d---4----4--x-x----2------------------ a---2----2--x-x----2------------------ e-------------------0------------------ verse: (w/riff 1, but that gets tiring so I play just B and E a lot and hint at the riff) we were a blow-out of wicked proportions an accidental company if we said 'we're gonna go out and get all tore-up tonight' then we did we got a little happenin' (on the last E chord before going into the chorus, it sounds like they play an Esus4) chorus: [G]play yer to[D]nights's-the-nights ri[E]ght and don't cl[B]ear the place [riff 1]sweep up a little on your way out you might make it (w/riff 1) with dottie, the bluegrass singer baring her local breast singing, "you want an open concept!? - I'll give you open concepts!" [G]you play yer [D]fuck-off-nows ri[E]ght and don't cl[B]ear the place [G]wreak [A]*some havoc on the way o[E]ut you might m[B]ake it *note difference from the first time around i think that's the basic idea for the rest of it. there's some brief modulation to C during the 'tonight's the night' section at the end, something like C F C G then B E B G stay on E for 3 beats, then G and back into the main riff hope this works for you - john o
